Where is Beat Drop located?
We are located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at 1120 17th Ave SW. The entrance to our facility is located on the west side of the Boston Pizza building. Free parking on west side of Beat Drop. Paid parking on surrounding streets.
When is Beat Drop open?
We are open between 1:00 pm & 8:00 pm Mon - Thu 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Fri (generally). When classes are in session, they take place between 6:00 pm & 10:15 pm Monday to Thursday. We are also open occasionally for other work shops and special events. Generally we suggest calling the school at 403-402-2893 to make sure someone is around.
How old do I have to be to attend classes?
You must be 13 or over to take any of our courses. Our students currently are between 13 & 60 years old. We do not have any age restrictions for our private lessons. Our staff evaluates potential private students on a case by case basis. To attend our Summer Camps you must be between 12-16 years old.
What class/classes should I take?
We offer a variety of courses focused on DJing & music production geared towards all skill levels. If you are not sure which courses or workshops are right for you, we suggest making an appointment to come and talk with one of our staff or simply give us a call and we can discuss your needs over the phone. Is there an application process?
No application is currently required. All you require to attend Beat Drop for a class or one of our certificate programs is an interest in music production and/or DJing, a desire to learn and a good attitude.
What do I need to bring to class?
In most cases all you need to bring to class is a pair of headphones, a memory stick for your work & a notebook & pen, or your laptop to take notes. Please feel free to contact us or ask your instructor if you are not sure what to bring to class.
Is Beat Drop an accredited post secondary school?
We are not accredited & not affiliated with any government organisations. We are currently a private Ableton certified educational facility.
What kind of jobs can I get in the music industry and does Beat Drop help me get one?
Beat Drop does not guarantee jobs for our graduates. The music industry and its sub industries are changing almost every month. We teach how artists and musicians can create a career and how money is made in the music and music production industries in our Music Business courses.
What payment plan options are available?

Are there student loans available through Beat Drop?
As a private school we cannot offer student loans through the province. We have a detailed information sheet that we recommend taking into your local bank branch and using for a line of credit application. We can help walk you through this process.
When are the semesters?
We have 3 semesters. A Fall semester which starts in September, a Winter semester which starts in January and a Summer semester which starts in June.
What times do classes run?
Our classes currently run evenings Monday through Thursday. Classes run for 2 hours and start either at 6:00 pm or 8:15 pm depending on the class. We also run different workshops and community events, check out our events page here
Are there any weekend courses?
We currently don’t offer any regularly schedules courses on weekends, but do offer our monthly Ableton Live Quick Start course 1 Saturday a month as well as various other workshops, check out our events page here
CLASS ROOM INFORMATION
When can I come and check out the School’s facilities?

What are the instructors qualifications?
All of our instructors are hand picked working DJs and/or Musicians who make a living by making music and/or performing in some way. We believe that the hands on experience that our instructors have is invaluable, and that the knowledge they have from working in their various fields of the music business and their ability to effectively communicate qualify them to teach our students.
What equipment does Beat Drop use?
For the majority of our Production courses we currently use iMac desktop computers & Novation Launchkey 49 midi controller keyboards. For our DJ courses we currently use iMAC desktop computers, Stanton ST 150 Turntables, Allen & Heath Zone 22 mixers & serato SL 2 boxes.
Can I practice/use the school’s equipment at Beat Drop when I’m not in class?
Class time is available for depending on our day time shcedule upon request.

What do I need to bring to class?
Headphones are a must. We also suggest bringing a note pad or laptop to take notes & a memory stick for your work.
Can I change my schedule?
Any schedule changes are subject to class capacity. Please email email@example.com or call 403-402-2893 to discuss any potential schedule changes.
What happens if I miss a class?
Attending class is your responsibility. If you miss a class and would like to make it up you can schedule a private lesson with your instructor, if and when your instructor is available for private lessons. Private lesson cost applies. For more info about private lessons click here
